We provide services that support individuals, families and communities empowering people to bring about positive change while building community capacity.

  • Cradle to Kinder

    An intensive ante and postnatal support program providing long term family and early parenting support for vulnerable young mothers and their families. Eligible clients for Cradle to Kinder are young pregnant women (under 25 years of age).

  • Family Relationship Centre

    The Ballarat Family Relationship Centre is a central location for anyone wanting information and support about family relationships at any stage in their life. All families, whether together or separated, can access information about family relationship issues.

  • Counselling

    Family Relationship Services provide counselling support to individuals, couples and families to assist with relationship challenges.
    Our qualified practitioners can assist with:
    -Relationship repair, rebuilding and communications
    -Family difficulties
    -Individual support
    -Supporting children and teens

    Some services incur a fee, however if you are experiencing financial hardship please discuss payment options with our staff. We will not deny service to those in need.

  • Single Session Counselling

    Is a one off client focused Face-to-face counselling session. It is suitable for individuals, couples or families.
    - A Single session is longer than a normal face-to-face appointment (approximately 90 mins).
    - A pre questionnaire is completed by the client prior to the session. It identifies the greatest worry, challenge or difficulty as well as their goals. This forms the direction of the session.
    - Single sessions are a collaborative process with the client and counsellor.
    - The purpose at the end of the session is for the client to leave with ideas and strategies to try.
    - The counsellor will make a follow up phone call in an agreed time frame to the client to discuss the next step.

  • Parenting Consultations

    Parenting consultations are 1 on 1, with a parenting support practitioner with either or both parents. These consultations give parents the opportunity to raise any of their parenting issues or concerns. In collaboration with the practitioner a tailored action plan is developed for implementation at home.

    The number of sessions offered is determined between the practitioner and parent and is based on individual circumstances.
    Cost: this is a free service.

  • Family Law Service

    Family Law Counselling services help people with relationship difficulties to better manage their personal or interpersonal issues to do with children and family during separation. We can assist with information and advice, referrals, education and skills training, child focussed groups and counselling.

    Managing challenging parenting moments -Keeping cool when the kids heat up -Choosing when to accept, prevent or influence children's difficult behaviour.
    Cost: $40 or $20 with concession

  • Bringing Up Great Kids

    A reflective parenting program developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation focussing on:
    -Building supportive parent-child relationships.
    -Exploring messages and beliefs people bring to parenting.
    -Understanding the world through children's eyes.
    Cost: $80 or $40 concession

  • Tuning in to Kids

    An evidence based parenting program, focussed on raising emotionally intelligent children. Tuning in to Kids highlights the importance of:
    -Understanding the impact of emotions on behaviour
    -Identifying and understanding your own emotions
    -Enhancing emotional connection within your family
    Cost: $80 or $40 concession

  • Tuning in to Teens

    An evidence based parenting program, focused on raising emotionally intelligent children. Tuning in to Teens highlights the importance of:
    -Connecting, accepting and understanding your teen.
    -Emotion coaching worry, sadness and anger in teens.
    -Enhancing emotional connection within your family
    Cost: $80 or $40 with Concession $100 per couple

  • Learning to Bloom

    A 4 week program especially for women aged 18 and over. Learning to Bloom offers women a chance to:
    -Look at life in perspective
    -Make some changes
    -Spend time on you
    -Meet like-minded women

  • Essence

    The Essence Program has been developed to teach participants 18 and over about connection between the mind and the body, and how it impacts on daily functioning. The program aims to assist participants in increasing their internal awareness and outer effectiveness. There is a focus on improving mental and physical health by setting achievable goals.

  • Clemente Program

    A transformative higher education program, to empower people through educational opportunities that builds self-esteem, confidence and the development of written, organisational and communication skills as a foundation for ongoing study and personal development.

  • Community Connections

    An outreach service to assist people with complex needs living in low cost accommodation or who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, into urgent or essential social and health services.

    Referrals into this program are accepted via Connecting Care.

  • Family Mental Health Support Service

      A flexible and responsive support service for children and young people at risk of or affected by mental illness. Working alongside families our Case Managers work with children and young people to develop achievable goals and strategies that minimise the impacts of poor mental health outcomes into the future.

  • Peplow House

    Provides short-term crisis accommodation for single men aged 18 years and over who are homeless.

    Referrals into this program are through Uniting Opening Doors Program on:

  • Centacare Housing Service

      Is a Registered Housing Provider. Our mission is to provide long-term affordable community housing options for people on low incomes aged 18 years and over. We provide people in the community with an affordable alternative to public housing and private rental accommodation.

  • Employment Services

    Our experienced team of Job Advisors work with job seekers one on one, to assess skills and abilities, discuss work options, build application and interview techniques, support the job search and move people into ongoing sustainable work.

  • Ballarat Youth Power

    Ballarat Youth Power aims to bring together the resources of Centacare Ballarat and headspace Ballarat to provide holistic assistance for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. The project aims to build young peoples resilience and positive self-concepts, improve health, wellbeing and social connection and develop their skills for work and career pathways.

  • The Victims Assistance Program (VAP)

    A free service that provides information, practical assistance and emotional support for victims of violent crime against the person. The service aims to assist clients effectiveIy manage and recover from the effects of violent crime by providing support through information, advocacy and referral to specialist services. VAP provides support to victims navigating the criminal justice system and provides help with police, court and legal processes. Assistance is also provided to lodge Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) applications where eligible.

  • Youth Justice Group Conferencing (YJGC)

    Centacare delivers the Youth Justice Group Conferencing (YJGC) program which provides a legislated and rehabilitation intervention to the Children's Court at the pre-sentence stage for young people between 10 - 18 years of age. YJGC is a program based on restorative justice principles that provides a problem solving approach to offending that aims to balance the needs of young people, victims and the community by encouraging dialogue between individuals who have offended and their victims.

  • Youth Justice Community Support Service (YJCSS)

    Centacare delivers the Youth Justice Community Support Service (YJCSS) in conjunction with Department of Justice and Regulation. YJCSS provides an integrated approach to the provision of intensive support and services to Youth Justice clients to complement the statutory case management undertaken by Youth Justice units. The service has been developed recognising that Youth Justice clients present with a range of complex and varied needs that require an individualised service response.
