    Parent Place provides a safe, welcoming and child friendly space with change and feed facilities. Our friendly team can provide you with general support and information about a range of City of Ballarat Family and Children’s Services including:

    • Kindergarten
    • Playgroups
    • Family Day Care
    • Immunisation
    • Maternal and Child Health Nurses

  • byou (Ballarat Youth Services/development)

    Young people are integral to the Ballarat community and make significant contributions to community life.

    The City of Ballarat values and promotes opportunities for young people 12 -25 and the ‘byou’ Youth Development team deliver programs and initiatives through a ‘Positive Youth Development’ Framework. This approach provides council with a framework of principles for improving health and wellbeing outcomes of young people and contributes towards the achievement of our vision:
    “…for young people in Ballarat to be actively engaged, valued and respected citizens, realising their potential”.

  • FReeZA

    FReeZA is a Victorian Government funded initiative that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events within their local communities. The program gives all participants hands-on experience and training in the Australian music industry through extensive event management, mentoring and networking opportunities.

  • Sonika

    Sonika is the City of Ballarat Youth Services' FReeZA committee. Sonika meet regularly and work with a project worker to plan various projects and events and gain event management skills. Sonika members are able to participate in a range of training such as FReeZA | The Push - which provides accredited training opportunities, recognised by employers. Sonika also runs a range of free or cheap all ages events that are drug, alcohol and smoke free.

  • Project Origin

    Project Origin is for young people to find their voice, share their story & messages through rap & spoken word. Facilitated by local rap artist, Emcee EMBE, project origin will cover everything from writing to performing, recording to artist collaboration.

  • Youth Council

    Youth Councillors are young people who are passionate about being involved in their community and representing the views, ideas and needs of young people in the Ballarat area.
    Throughout their term, Youth Councillors are mentored by the Mayor and Councillors and develop leadership skills. The team works with a range of services and Council departments to develop projects, campaigns and advocate for young people in the Ballarat region. Youth Council is led by young people and supported by the Youth Services team.
